A seventy-six-year-old pensioner, George Sturt, as well as his family have won the £26.1 million EuroMillions jackpot.

The widower, hailing from Dorking in Surrey and who still drives a taxi, said he wants to offer the majority of his winnings away for cancer research following the recent death of his wife. He lives in a three-bedroom terraced home just outside of Dorking.

Mr Sturt, who was part of a syndicate for the lottery, will share the £26.1 million EuroMillions jackpot with three members of his family, namely his forty-four-year-old daughter Teresa, and his sons, fifty-three-year-old Colin and fifty-one-year-old Gary.

Mr Sturt also has eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

After getting the news of his huge win, Mr Sturt visited the offices of his local newspaper on Monday, where he reveled he had won the EuroMillions jackpot.

He said the news was hard to believe. He added not caring so much about money for himself, although he claimed to be happy for his children.

The former construction worker who now runs his own cab firm said the lottery win, thought to be the fourth-largest Euromillions won by a British national, would not prompt him to stop driving his taxi, which he does with a passion. He said that the job enables him to meet great people.

The winning ticket was made up of the numbers 11, 26, 29, 49, and 50 with the lucky star numbers 4 and 7. The Sturts’ share the jackpot with an unnamed French player.
