A very glamorous bunch of girls who wish they weren’t boys have landed in Belfast. The Ladyboys are in town for a two-week residency as part of their 2009 Mile High Tour.
The troupe boasts sixteen of the most beautiful showgirls in the world, and they are scheduled for two nightly performances every day at the Speigeltent in Custom House Square.
The Thai act claimed UK fame 11 years ago, when they made their debut performance in the country at the Edinburgh Festival.
The ladyboys have been performing to sold out audiences around the UK ever since.
Offering a very colourful cabaret-style act, the girls take turn at mimicking Abba, Rod Stewart and Michael Jackson, and carry out dazzling acrobatics through numerous costume changes.
Producer and director of the Bangkok Ladyboys show Philip Gandey told reporters that the Belfast crowds just love the Ladyboys and the girls love them back.
According to Gandey, the show benefits from great world of mouth publicity, adding that’s really a show that must be seen to believe.
He said that despite starting in the UK with a small show 11 years ago, the show is now quite large, having sold over 40,000 tickets on this run in the country. He added that the show gets larger and larger with performances in all the major cities in the UK.
Ladyboys star Leyla, said she loves performing in front of UK audiences and that she’s feels very happy in Belfast.
