Coldplay Auctions Off Instruments For Charity

Coldplay is in the midst of gathering funds for the charity Kids Company.

Band member Chris Martin has decided to auction the first guitar he owned to help the organisation. Coldplay has unveiled a catalogue containing information about 52 various lots available through the auction.

Dubbed the ‘End of Decade Clearout Sale’ is also seen an opportunity for die hard Coldplay fans to own a piece of memorabilia of the one of the top bands of the moment.

The band has revealed that the ‘End of Decade Clearout Sale’ charity auction will feature a collection of musical instruments, signed memorabilia as well as costumes.

 The sale kicks off today, December 18, through the auction website Ebay. The band recently posted all the items to be auctioned off in a form of a downloaded catalogue from their website.

Coldplay announced that the sales would come in four separate waves:

Friday 18 December – Items from the Parachutes era
Saturday 19 December – Items from the A Rush Of Blood To The Head era
Sunday 20 December – Items from the X&Y era
Monday 21 December – Items from the Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends era

Amongst the object for grabs is band member Chris Martin’s first ever guitar which is marked with ‘Christopher AJ Martin’ in tippex.

Martin used the instrument to compose several early Coldplay tunes and is predominant on the band’s first album ‘Parachutes’.

Also up for grabs are a series of stage costumes band members wore as they toured the planet in support of ‘Viva La Vida’.

The auction also features the globe depicted on the cover of their first studio release.
