Gray gone and pressure on Keys
Sky Sports last night faced growing pressure to give its main football anchor the axe after it had earlier sacked his colleague Andy Gray
After Gray was dismissed once new footage emerged that showed him making sexist suggestions to a co-host , the pressure is now on the satellite provider to take similar action against Richard Keys – pressure that has increased once yet another clip showed him talking sexist about an ex-girlfriend of Jamie Redknapp.
While the pair were disciplined for making their sexist remarks about female assistant referee Ms Sian Massey on Saturday’s during the match between Wolverhampton and Liverpool, the incident was off-air and spilled to the media.
This new evidence against Keys, which sees him referring to a woman as “it” as well as twice asking the pundit and ex-Liverpool and Spurs star if he “smashed” her, appears to come from the very same source as the Gray video and became posted from the exact same YouTube account. Keys is recorded casually chatting to Redknapp, Graeme Souness, and Ruud Gullit just before Super Sunday went on air at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge. The conversation starts with someone that is behind the camera throwing up the name of a former girlfriend of Redknapp’s called Louise. Shamed Keys then asks Redknapp whether or not he “smashed it”, with the former player replying that he went out with her once.
While Gullit fiddles with his mobile and Souness attempts to interject, Keys then returns to the question by chipping in words to the effect that any man that went near the woman would “definitely smash it”. He then made a particularly disparaging comment by adding that anyone could have gone round to her house any night of the week and seen Redknapp hanging out of the back of the woman.
