Hollywood couple Sarandon and Robbins split
Hollywood actors Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have decided to go their separate ways after more than two twenty years as a couple.
According to a publicist for Susan Sarandon, the couple, who both Oscar-winning actors, had been an item for 23 years but had never married and despite the news just coming out now, went through separation process earlier this year.
The actresses spokesperson Teal Cannaday said via a statement that sixty-three-year-old Hollywood star Susan Sarandon and her spouse of 23 years, fifty-one-year-old actor Tim Robbins, have revealed that they decided to separate last summer.
Several people in Hollywood have been stunned by the split since the couple had appeared to be one of the most enduring one in the often too fickle and superficial world of show business.
The pair had developed a reputation outside the sphere of entertainment for having strong opinions about politics and activism. They never hid their disapproval of the invasion of Iraq as well as of President George W Bush in general.
The couple, who have two children, twenty-year-old Jack and seventeen-year-old Miles, had met while shooting the baseball-themed motion picture Bull Durham,
Sarandon has a 24-year-old daughter, Eva, from another relationship.
The actress, who performed The Rocky Horror Picture Show and gained wide spread recognition for her role in Thelma And Louise, won an Oscar for the film Dead Man Walking released in 1995.
As for her now former spouse Robbins, he awarded an Oscar for the best supporting actor in 2003 for his role in the drama Mystic River by Clint Eastwood.
