Sainsburys directors cross over to rivals
Two of Sainsbury’s chiefs are set to flee the nest and cross over to two of its bitter rivals.
Sara Bradley, who heads the supermarket’s clothing department, and her counterpart Adrian Mountford, head of general merchandise, are set to join the Wal-Mart owned Asda company and Matalan respectively. As of yet, Sainsbury’s is yet to find replacements but has gone on record saying that that the race to fill up the vacancies – which will become vacant in January – had already started.
A spokesman for the company said that unrelated moves such as happened from time to time in all areas of business and particularly in Sainsbury’s own industry where executives move around quite often. Expanding further, the company highlighted that it already has a great team set in place as well as a number of backers that are ready to steer its interests in non-food products. In a further attempt to highlight that it is isn’t struggling, it was also pointed out that just last week a second 100,000 square foot store had been opened in Lincoln with another set to open in Stanway in a few days.
According to UK publication, Ms Bradley will assume the role of being head of kidswear and menswear for the George clothing company at Asda, a role that she held before heading to Sainsbury’s in 2009. At Matalan, Mr Mountford will be the new commercial director.
As mentioned, as soon as it has replaced Bradley and Mountford, Sainsbury’s is to immediately press on with revamping its non-food range in a bit to catch up with its biggest rival, and the market’s leader, Tesco.
