Spice Girls Musical In The Works
A Spice Girls musical has been given the ok and will come to life under the care of media tycoon Simon Fuller and the author of Mamma Mia!
Tentatively titled Viva Forever, the Spice Girls musical will benefit from the experienced “Abba entrepreneur” Judy Craymer who is believed to have amassed a fortune of £75m from her film and stage hit based on the music of the 70s Scandinavian foursome.
Speculation has been running rampant ever since the band met up to discuss the idea a number of months ago, although the project has now been officially confirmed.
The musical will be billed as It a celebration of “the energy and excitement of the biggest girl-band of all time”.
Craymer said she she was delighted the Spice Girls and that Simon Fuller are backing the Viva Forever idea.
She said that she wanted to create a special celebration of the group and its music, featuring its own flavour and joyful message. She added that to well represent the excitement, style and humour of The Spice Girls was important to her.
Craymer has been extremely successful with her previous project. Her stage version of Mamma Mia! Took in over a staggering over £1bn at theatres and the movie version is the highest grossing motion picture ever to be released in the United Kingdom.
The Spice Girls musical will be one of Simon Fuller’s first projects to be created under his new international entertainment company XIX.
Fuller, currently a major media player in the UK and worth some £300m, is behind TV hits So You Think You Can Dance and Pop Idol.
The stage production is scheduled to make it London debut in two to three years.
