One cruise line company has recently demonstrated large numbers of women in their fifiteies coupling with buff young lads could cause an upset or two. Carnival Cruise, the Miami based cruise provider known for their lower market affordable fares, has decided to refuse a contract which would have given them the patronage of 300 wealthy cougars and their cubs – the younger men who, by one way or another, have been lured on the ship – for an eight-day sea bound holiday.

Promoters of the holiday, Cougar Events in California, had promised a full week of cougar fun on the high seas for singles who were ready to book a room for the eight-day vacation featuring cocktail receptions, excursions as well as a party in the Jacuzzi.

A representative for Carnival Cruise said that the sea holiday provider had opted for not featuring any more cruises with this particular theme on their ships. The spokeswoaman called Carnival’s decision a business one.

Rich Gosse, Cougar Events chief executive, claimed that 300 holidaymakers had already signed on and taken a similar themed cruise last December on the Carnival ship Elation. Mr Gosse said his offer for another “cougar” cruise had been rejected recently. He added that other rival companies were willing to accept his money and his clientele.

He said his “cougar cruise” had already booked space on the competition and that they were ready to set sail in May, with the trip bringing passengers from Los Angeles to Mexico.

“Cougarism” has grown in popularity in America in recently years, in part due to the affairs of Madonna and Demi Moore, as well as movies such as The Proposal, portraying an older woman who marries her much younger assistant.
