Flavio Briatore has announced that he’s considering legal action against Formula One driver Nelson Piquet Jr and his father.

He said that it would be very likely, when asked by the media if he intended to sue his former protégé. He added that he won’t forget so easily what he considers the bad done to him.

Briatore, the former team leader at F1 outfit Renault, was declared guilty by the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council a few months ago of having demanded Nelson Piquet Jnr to voluntarily his car during the Singapore Grand Prix in 2008 so that Fernando Alonso could win the race.

The decision meant that Briatore was barred from all Formula One involvement.

But this week, the Paris High Court decided that the FIA couldn’t impose such a sanction because Briatore didn’t have a FIA licence.

Briatore has threatened legal action in the past. Following the scandal revelation last September, there was a statement released by Renault F1 in which the Italian team leader pointed his finger at Piquet Jnr’s father, the former F1 world champion Nelson Piquet Snr, of extortion and blackmail.

Meanwhile, Briatore once again stipulated that the previous stance of the FIA in respect to his person—concerning his banning from F1—stemmed from personal issues between himself and Max Mosley, the former FIA president.

He believes he will have a better relationship with the F1 governing body under Jean Todt, its newly appointed president.

Best F1 driver in history Michael Schumacher is poised to make a sensational comeback to the Grand Prix competition in 2010.

Mercedes Grand Prix, Schumacher’s new team, has officially confirmed the news this afternoon as the forty-one-year-old German race car driver promises to battle for the top motor championship on the planet.

The announcement came after weeks of rumours which had been circulating around the paddocks and create an all-German team extraordinaire, with the seven times world champion joining forces with promising budding talent and compatriot Nico Rosberg.

Schumacher’s new teammate admitted relishing the challenge of competing with the greatest Formula One driver of all time, who boasts on top of his seven world championship trophies, a total of 91 grand prix wins with 154 podiums during the initial phase of his career between 1991 and 2006.

Schumacher retired from F1 three years ago, although many have suggested that the champion had been forced of competition by being offered the choice between pulling out of Ferrari or by accepting incoming Kimi Raikkonen, the new driver believed at time to be the German’s natural heir and subsequent replacement, thus pushing out of a seat then team-mate Brazilian Felipe Massa, who he also saw as his protégé.

Schumacher may be reentering formula One with a the idea of completing some unfinished business, after speculations of an earlier return to the competition had been sparked by a seat left vacant at Ferrari following Felipe Massa’s terrifying incident at the Hungaroring during qualifications during the summer.

Singer Beyonce and rock legends Aerosmith are set for a new scheme that matches Formula races and top notch pop and rock performances.

Beyoncé, author of hits like ‘Single Ladies’, will open the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix celebrations with a concert on October 29, sources close to the promoters have confirmed. Aerosmith, the notorious bad boys of 70s rock with hits like ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ will be the key performers at the grand finale for the race weekend, on November 1.

Rumours have been circulating that Nelly Furtardo and No Doubt were also set to perform at the F1 weekend but these have been denied. There are acts which will perform on the events two other nights but they still have to be announced sometime next week.

All four performances will be held only for race-day ticket holders. People who will not have purchased race-day tickets for the Formula One event, will still have access to a series of free live concert featuring more international artists.

These include Timbaland, Soul II Soul and The Wailers on Tuesday October 27, and Saturday, October 31. Also featured will be top Arabic acts such as Fares Karam, Ragheb Alame and Mohamed Hamaki.

The latest news contradicts rumours surrounding the disbanding of Aerosmith after frontman Steven Tyler had suffered injuries following a fall sustained at a gig during their North American tour.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be the first ever day/night F1 race.

Formula 1 is set to return to North American soil after skipping one Canadian Grand Prix.

The company overlooking the Montreal Grand Prix, Grand Prix F1 du Canada Inc., and the Formula one governing body, the FIA, have recently reached a agreement concerning the financial dispute that had forced the cancellation of the Canadian Grand Prix for the 2009 season.

Through a news release, local F1 backer Normand Legault said Canada is now back on the F1 schedule.

“Negotiations with [F1 president Bernie] Ecclestone are going well,” said Raymand Bachand, a Quebec cabinet minister. “The negotiations are actually over, but we haven’t signed anything yet but we’re very confident.”

Prior to its demise, organisers claimed that the Canadian Grand Prix was one of F1’s best-attended races since 2001, with more than 300,000 spectators for the three-day competition, and pulling in 120,000 fans for the Sunday race alone.

The Montreal event, a F1 circuit stop since 1978, is believed to draw $100 million per year in revenues to the city.

Earlier during the year, Canadian officials coming from all levels of government, municipal, provincial and federal, travelled to London to meet with Ecclestone and persuade him to reinstate the F1 stop in Montreal, but he had refused.

At the time, Formula One Management could not come to an agreement with rand Prix F1 du Canada Inc. on a licensing fee, Ecclestone therefore looked elsewhere.

Istanbul took Montreal’s place on the circuit, but the race in Turkey was deemed poor in attendance, attracting only 30,000 on race day.

CBCSports.ca’s John Pudy wrote that “Montreal is a guaranteed sellout, and it is more than a race; it is an event.”

Indeed, the city itself claims huge F1 support and is just a few hours away from other wealthy cosmopolitan centres such as Ottawa, Toronto, New York and Boston.

Fernando Alonso, the former Formula One champion, has been cleared to take part at the European Grand Prix in Valencia after his team, Renault, managed to convince a motor sport court which overturned a suspension which would of grounded the Spaniard.

The motor sport’s governing body had initially given Renault a suspension from next Sunday’s race since the team had given the green light to its driver to leave the pit lane with an improperly fixed car; the Renault car sported a loose wheel at the Hungary Grand Prix last month.

The Motor Sport Federation decided against the punishment before the FIA International Court of Appeal in Paris.

Renault has instead been fined $50,000.

Technical director Bob Bell and engineering director Pat Symonds were representing the Renault team while Charlie Whiting, F1 race director, represented the FIA.

Renault manager Steve Nielsen managed to plea in favour of Alonso’s case, highlighting his importance for the Spanish race.

Nielson said: “the reason there are two races in Spain is largely because of Fernando’s involvement. People in Spain were not so interested in F1 until he got involved.”

The FIA fined Renault for allowing the Spanish driver to leave the pit lane with a dysfunctional wheel at the July 26 Hungarian GP.

The improperly fastened wheel came off from the Renault car during turn No. 9 after 13 laps of racing, and dangerously bounced on the racing track.

The European Grand Prix weekend starts Friday August 21 and race day is Sunday 23.

Glaswegian Paul Morrison is excited about his massive new project.

The man who created T in the Park, a hugely successful music festival held annually in Scotland, has launched the first in a series of glitzy F1 rock concerts at Grand Prix races around the world.

Morrison, who brainchild the Scottish event back in 1992 with the idea of a massive music festival, will be staging three concerts at next month’s Formula 1 Grand Prix in Singapore.

Simple Minds, Beyonce, ZZ Top, Black Eyed Peas, N*E*R*D and Chinese superstar Jacky Cheung will all perform at the shows which will bring the F1 star drivers together with the top names in rock music. F1 drivers, film stars and supermodels will also join the music stars for appearances.

Plans are already underway for massive televised shows at future Formula 1 races and Paul admits the experience gained through T in the Park gave him the confidence and inspired him to create these groundbreaking events.

“It’s a very different thing but in some ways, T in the Park is the blueprint.” Paul said.

“I have a new events company called All The Worlds which is part of the Universal Music Group of companies.

“The global premiere will be at Singapore and it is part of a five year deal”, the 42 year old added.

The 10,000 seat Fort Canning Park in Singapore will host the three-day bash from September 24 to 26, just ahead the Grand Prix on September 27.
