The Wall Street Journal claimed that the Blackstone Group is working out an agreement to buy the theme parks. The private equity firm is presently owner of Legoland and Six Flags parks and is splitting the ownership of Universal Orlando with NBC (GE).

Theme park business expert Jerry Aldrich said  Blackstone isn’t considering the acquisition to change it. The park already boasts great results.

Aldrich says SeaWorld fans are not likely to notice any differences if Blackstone takes over the park. Aldrich claims that if Blackstone took over SeaWorld, Aquatica, Busch Gardens and Universal Studios, Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Wet ‘n Wild in Orlando, they would probably give local Florida residents a package deal involving three or four parks.

Aldrich says multi-day passes giving access to both SeaWorld and the Universal theme parks would become Blackstone’s answer to Disney’s multi-day passes . He added that more competition is benefits the consumers. He also said that it would be a smart move to offer multi-day packages.

After years of poor attendance and a number of different owners, the 73-year-old Cypress Gardens, which garnished fame for lush flower gardens, water-skiing shows and Southern belles in hoop dresses.

Land South Adventures, which is the current owner, claimed the park to be no longer financially viable. The company explained via a statement that it have explored various management options and had thus exhausted every possibility deemed reasonable which would see the park operating in its traditional form.

Several potential buyers are said to be negotiating with the owners.

Land South Adventures purchased Cypress Gardens in October 2007 for $16.8 million.

Cypress Gardens, in the small town of Winter Haven near Orlando, was closed one more time in November 2008 to allow renovations and eventually reopened during March 2009, featuring its original botanical gardens, water park, water ski shows and musical events, but the animal attractions and rides were gone.
