Jeremy Clarkson, who presents the show along with Richard Hammond and James May, made the news official during an interview with community service Witney TV in his local Oxfordshire.

Clarkson claimed that he felt that the Stig had been hurtful, citing hours spent together as perhaps little more than a pretense to the upcoming autobiography of Ben Collins, 33, who has been officially named as the Stig.

In what had become a case of national interest, the bosses of Top Gear at the BBC has sought to have an injunction on Collins releasing the book, and making his identity pubic, as they argued that his contracted clearly said that his anonymity was part of the show’s conditions. The Stig, who grew to celebrity status among fans of the series, had already developed a considerable fan base but his access to advertising and corporate revenue was limited by keeping his true identity secret. So much so that he was paid a fraction of what Clarkson earn each week from appearances and endorsements, the book one of his view ways to expand.

The unveiling of the Bristol-based Collins, puts an end to seven years of gossip and speculation over who the Stig actually was, with Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton jokingly unmasked on the show. Clarkson has said there is a long list of applicants for the job, adding that he was too old for the position.

The Research project, undertaken by intotheblue.co.uk, revealed that British teens have considerably less imagination than their predecessors when it comes to making something of their life. This was self-evident when prompted to ask what they hoped to become when they grew up, with more than half stating simply “famous”. Most harboured no desire to attain a career of any sort, presumably to much effort. Much easier, it seems, is to try and get onto a reality television show and have your fifteen minutes of fame – regardless of how humiliating it might be.

Wayne Rooney, he of the gifted feet and granny tempted loins, came second on the poll with 60 percent of those surveyed wishing to be like Wayne – still some distance behind first placed Kate who polled well over 60 percent. Triple BRIT award winner Lady Gaga came in at third place with 53 percent while Nicola from Big Brother scored 50 percent.

The poll canvassed 16-year-olds across Britain, with 21 percent claiming that their path to superstardom lay in the hands of television judges although a small percentage reasoned that getting laid by a celebrity may be an easier way to reach notoriety. 70 percent had no idea how exactly they would become famous while 19 percent humbly acknowledged that they did not possess the necessary talent to become a star.

The results are sure to be fuel to those academics lamenting the brain-drain in the youth of today, but who can blame then when the most admired people are also the most frequently ridiculed. All just part of being a teenager one presumes.

The move would be one in a series of modifications which are said to affect the popular talent show.

Cowell has recently threatened to shut down the series if ITV executives fail to provide him with an extra weekly £300,000 in funds needed for the revamp.

Cowell said that several changes would come to the talent show starting next year if it comes back. He said that the show must begin a changing process if it’s to avoid failure.

From 1973 to 1982, she was married to another American TV icon, Lee Majors, who was the star of The Six Million Dollar Man, which portrayed the exploits of a man partly rebuilt with mechanical parts.

Fawcett was also romantically involved with actor Ryan O’Neal from 1982 until 1997; then from 2001 until her death. The couple had one son, Redmond James O’Neal, born in 1985.

To support the launch of her latest album Midwinter Graces, a Christmas release, which will hit the stores on November 16th 2009, Tori Amos will please her numerous fans by performing a very special one-off FREE concert at the Jazz Café in Camden on Wednesday December 2 in partnership with HMV.

This unique performance promises to be a simple affair showcasing only Tori at her piano. She is planning to perform tracks from Midwinter Graces along with a other popular classics.

In order to assist at this special event, fans will need to get their hands on one of the free wristbands which give them access to the concert. Wristbands will only be available at HMV, 150 Oxford Street, London, W1D 1DJ starting at 8.00am on Wednesday 2 December 2009, the day of the Amos concert. Only one wristband per customer will be given, first come first served. These promise to just fly out the door.

Tori Amos is best known for her hit ‘Cornflake Girl’, but her skills on the piano have been compared to Hendrix on the guitar. 

Born in the US, Amos was at the forefront of many female singer-songwriters in the early 1990s and was noticed early in her career as she was one of the few alternative rock artists to use a piano as a main instrument.

She is famous for her emotionally charged songs that cover various subjects including religion, sexuality, and personal tragedy.

Other hits include “Crucify”, “Professional Widow”, “Silent All These Years”, “God”, “Caught a Lite Sneeze”, “Spark”, “1000 Oceans”, and “A Sorta Fairytale”.

The free concert will be broadcasted live on November 5 as part of the MTV Europe Music Awards.

U2’s manager Paul McGuinness said the gig will an exciting event, nearly 20 years to the day since the structure came down.

The show is one of a string of events marking the fall of the Berlin Wall. The German capital has a unique relationship with U2 as they recorded the Achtung Baby album in 1990 in what was at the time East Berlin, on the eve of the reunification of Germany.

The MTV Europe Music Awards is set to be hosted by Katy Perry with a selection of guests including Robbie Williams, Jay-Z and Joss Stone among the acts.

The executive producer of the awards show, Antonio Campo Dall’Orto, said the event’s managing staff is extremely proud to be feature U2 in Berlin for this special performance.

He said that awards this year will be remembered as the occasion when the planet’s major music acts gathered against the backdrop of those dramatic 1990 events celebrating music, freedom and the arrival of a new dawn in Europe.

The pair will lead a group of celebrities including Myleene Klass and John Barrowman who will come in aid to the charity Children in Need by attempting a televised worldwide relay.

Mack and Skinner’s challenge is to follow the exact same odyssey undertaken by Jules Verne’s fictional character Phileas Fogg in his famous book Around the World in 80 Days.

A series of paired celebrities will each follow suit by undertaking a leg of the journey, crossing the distance by any available means, with the exception of plane travel, to arrive at their destination within the required 80 days.

The two celebrities are set to meet the next pair star adventurers and hand them the a carpet bag containing the modern day necessities for the challenge, including a satellite tracker and GPS phone.

Mack and Skinner’s task will be to encounter The Apprentice participants Nick Hewer and Saira Khan who was a one-time runner-up.

Further on, the BBC’s Breakfast’s Shane Richie, Bill Turnball as well as Countryfile hosts Matt Baker and Julia Bradbury take up the challenge with the other legs with a goal to finish the epic journey in time for the charity Children in Need set for November 20.

Every celebrity pair will be raising funds for the charitable organisation via sponsorship and by auctioning off objects which they will have picked up on their during trip.
