The Queen has discouraged the media against publishing paparazzi images of members of the Royal family, it has come forth.

The hardline comes after rising aggravation regarding invasion into the private lives of the Royal family and their friends.

The Queen’s lawyers have met with newspapers informing them of privacy responsibilities under their own code of conduct.

The act is believed to have the full support of high-profile members of the Royal family including The Prince of Wales and his sons Princes William and Harry.

Paddy Harverson, the Prince Charles’s communications secretary, said that members of the Royal family feel they have a right to privacy when they are going about everyday, private activities.

He went on to say they recognise there is a public interest in them and what they do, but they do not think this extends to photographing the private activities of them and their friends.

The initial test of the new approach is likely take affect the next few weeks when the Royal family assemble as is tradition at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, for Christmas.

Previously freelance photographers had spent many hours monitoring the location to obtain pictures of the family on the estate.

But this year photographers would be supervised on public roads in the area.

William had previously raised concerns after his girlfriend Kate Middleton was followed by the paparazzi in 2007.

Late last week when the Queen attended the Royal Highland Show she was given a surprise gift of a year’s supply of ice-cream.

As she was touring the showground, Maitland Mackie, the chairman of Mackie’s of Scotland, presented her with a book of vouchers for free ice cream, and said, jokingly, that he was concerned about the state of royal finances.

The Aberdeenshire-based ice-cream company was established by Mackie 22 years ago.

Mackie’s of Scotland was one of many firms exhibiting at the four-day-long show at Ingliston, not far from Edinburgh.

After the Queen’s visit, Mackie said: “We gave the Queen a whole year’s supply of ice-cream because we’re a bit worried about the economics of the royal household,” adding: “She’s a lovely lady.”

This was the Queen’s first official visit to the Royal Highland Show in 25 years. She reportedly laughed when he presented the free vouchers.

The Queen is the patron of the Royal Highlands and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS), which organizes the show.

This year, the RHASS celebrates its 225th anniversary, and organisers were pleased that the Queen and the Princess Royal attended the event.
