Indonesia is the world’s best place for entrepreneurs wanting to start a business, according to a BBC survey.

Following Indonesia are the US, Canada, India, and also Australia. They are are seen as being among the next best countries for supporting new businesses. On the other hand though, Colombia, Russia, Egypt, and Turkey are regarded as being the least entrepreneur-friendly.

The survey was conducted for the BBC’s Extreme World programme, which found wide variations in perceptions with regards to how much the different cultures offer help to those just starting up in their countries.

The results are taken from a survey that asked over 24,000 people scattered across 24 countries their feelings on how they were treated overseas and in thier homelands. The participants were asked whether or not innovation was highly valued by those in their country and whether or not it was hard for them to start a business, whether or not they were highly valued, and whether or not people with brilliant ideas are able to execute them while putting them into practice.

Collecting all the answers together as single indexes, Indonesia came out and sealed its place as the most favourable country for entrepreneurs. As mentioned, US, Canada, and Australia were also up near the top.

At the other end of the spectrum, and completely unexpected to be in such a position, was Italy – which finished in the company of nations such as Russia, where corruption is rife and a series of backhanders are required to even get a start.

Empty shelves are to be found at hundreds of supermarkets across the UK as the fuel crisis takes over.

Of everyone, local retailers have made the best profits, as people are turning to them for their groceries as opposed to travelling to the larger superstores that are further away, either nearer the big cities or close to the motorway.

In addition to this however, many petrol stations are beginning to run dry with experts, such as Brian Madderson, who is the chairman of the nationally recognised Retail Motor Industry Independent Petrol Retailers Association, commenting that the country is close to a critical point that will see it having both a fuel and weather crisis.

Most of all he cited acute problems with the supply of diesel around rural areas of the UK, including north east Scotland. In those parts, a series of filling stations have already run out of fuel. According to analyst, each hour is becoming more crucial than the next as supplies lower and people get more desperate.

The Petrol Retailers Association believes that fuel companies that have refineries in eastern parts of the country have also reported that they are two, if not three, days behind delivery schedules and it will take them some time to catch up. However, the groups insisted with fewer motorists on the roads at the moment because of the weather, drivers will be able to cope for the time being.

Metrosexuals have finally discovered the joys of pedicures according to data which shows a rise in male spa treatments in London.

Long considered the sole domain of pampered women, British males are warming to the concept of seeing a pedicurist to enjoy healthy, good looking feet. Now, thanks to pedicurist.co.uk, there is online advice and information for both sexes to better understand the process and benefit involved.

A Pedicurist someone who specialises in the cosmetology of the feet, and one who can, by soaking, cleaning and massaging, leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed.

Simply put, a good pedicure is good for your health, with your feet probably the most used part of your body and accordingly one which can wear out easily in old age. As with any body part, proper conditioning to ensure good circulation and sensation will have not only immediate rewards but long term benefits such as being able to avoid dry or cracked skin.

Ask anyone who has a regular treatment and they will attest to the wonderful feeling of cleanliness, freshness and relaxation that can be provided in the hands of pedicurists. While nail or hair salons are the most common location, there are numerous providers who can readily turn you into a covert.

For those unsure or unwilling to venture into beauty salons, it is simple enough to find a good quality pedicurist online, with private pedicures offered all over Britain. Pedicurist.co.uk can help you find a mobile beauty therapist who can come to your home or even your next office or social function.

The latest austerity measures to hit the UK have left more people turning towards traditional get-rich-quick schemes. Many hope to emulate the Texan woman Joan Ginther, who has won the lottery no less than four times, totalling more than £14m.

The two main lotteries open to British residents are the National Lottery, otherwise known as lotto, and the Euro Lottery. A guide to each of these lotteries can be found at lotteries.org.uk, which gives you the best information and background when choosing to play the odds for the chance of a lifetime.

In the UK version, players select a random six numbers in the hope of winning the main jackpot which is normally in the region of millions of pounds. The National Lottery is run by Camelot, and a percentage of all revenue generated by lotto sales is put back into community service projects.

The lotto is Europe’s most cost-effective lottery and to date has helped to raise over 24 billion for a host of worthy causes. The draws are made every Wednesday and Saturday nights, with the process being shown on live TV across the nation, with the winning numbers appearing in the following day’s newspapers.

In addition to the National Lottery, Camelot also operates scratch cards and thunderball games, but regrettably there is no proven formula for winning. Camelot also operates the Euro Lottery, which is open to the entire continent, and while it costs twice as much to enter, the pool for prizes is phenomenal - often in the tens of millions of pounds.

James McCartney, son of the famous former Beatle, has announced details for his very first tour on the United Kingdom.

The performer will tour the country during he months of February and March and will include stops in Liverpool, London and Glasgow.

The news arrives after James had performed a series of concerts last October under the name Light and which all remained secret.

It’s emerged that he’s been spending most of the last 24 months recording a new album but details concerning its release still need to be revealed.

The young McCartney said that his music is influenced by such acts as The Beatles, Radiohead, Nirvana, The Cure, PJ Harvey as well as what he calls “all good music”. He defines his music as “rock’n'roll, clean-sounding and vocal”.

James has revealed that his album is being mixed in both in Sussex and in New York, adding that the songs, which have been written over the course of the last decade, explore themes such spirituality, love and family amongst others.

The impresario, credited as being one of the creators of “Cool Britannia” and who managed bands like Oasis and Primal Scream, said that all rock star should retire at 40.

McGee singled out McCartney for particular criticism. He said “John Lennon is probably firing bullets from another dimension as we speak. Just give in, Paul.”

Slayer announce rescheduled UK tour dates Veteran metal band will play a series of shows in May and June

American heavy metal act Slayer has announced a series of revised scheduled dates for their upcoming UK tour.

The concerts had already been cancelled twice because of health problems. Slayer bassist Tom Araya has been suffering from major back problems which have required surgery and forced the postponement and the subsequent rescheduling of the UK gigs.

The thrash-metal band had announced less than two weeks ago that their dates scheduled for their forthcoming UK tour were cancelled.

It was announced at the time that Araya needed an operation on his back to solve a reoccurring problem.

These cancellations had first affected the January and February American and Canadian dates of the Carnage Tour then the European gigs booked for March and April.

Luckily, there was no North East date, but any fans who’ve made arrangements to travel to see them in Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Nottingham, Birmingham or London will be mighty peeved.

It was revealed that Araya, notorious for swinging his long hair while performing, became gradually bothered by serious back problems as the band was touring Australia, New Zealand and Japanese last October.

The band continued with the tour despite of the problems experienced by Araya, but the bassist immediately consulted with an orthopaedic specialist when he returned home.

It’s now been revealed that Slayer will open their UK tour in Leeds on May 26 and will subsequently move on to play Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham and London for the tour’s final two gigs.

Slayer UK tour:

Leeds Academy (May 26)
Glasgow Barrow lands (27)
Birmingham Academy (29)
Manchester Academy (30)
Nottingham Rock City (31)
London Forum (June 2,3)

Promotional campaigns in pubs and clubs in Britain which entice patrons to engage in binge drinking are scheduled to be axed within months in a move by the UK government to back down form its liberal alcohol licensing policy.

Fines of up to £20,000 or as many as six months in prison will be faced by licensees for ads such as offers “Free drinks for women under 25” or “All you can drink for £10”.

The government announcement made today were a tougher code of practice is emerging is an admission that alcohol reforms permitting 24-hour drinking have not been successful at producing what ex-minister Hazel Blears branded as a “continental café-bar culture”.

Ministers have instead acted amid increasing public outcry at the prevalence of public drunkenness and alcohol-fuelled chaos on British streets. A private poll carried out by the Labour party has revealed that the matter is a continuously rising worry for voters.

Home Secretary Alan Johnson said that crimes related to alcohol costs the United Kingdom billions of pounds every year, adding that despite the fact that most retailers are behaving responsibly, a minority still run irresponsible promotions.

Under the reviewed policies, clubs and pubs in the UK will be required to provide free tap water to its patrons and will have to “card” people at their entrance in order to spot people under the age of 18.

Licensed premises will also be forced to sale wine in small 125ml glasses as well as the typical 250ml ones. Experts have claimed that the lager size of wine glasses have contributed to the increasing level of drunkenness among women. Small beer and spirit measures will also have to be offered by pub and club owners under the new code.

Parliament is scheduled to debate the new code within the next two weeks. However, the measures regarding irresponsible drinking as well as providing free tap water will be activated in April, before the general election. As for the measures dealing with age verification and ensuring that smaller sizes of glasses and beer bottles are available to patrons are scheduled to come into force on the first of October.
