Tesco mobile slashes iPhone prices
Retail giant Tesco has announced reduced tariffs for its popular iPhone contracts.
The cost to purchase a new Apple iPhone fell slightly yesterday following the announcement from Tesco that the charge for the basic iPhone 3G model would be just £100 on a 12-month contract.
Tesco, which only joined the iPhone market in December 2009, has promised to provide the traditional “Tesco value” service to the essential telecommunications and multimedia phone, while claiming that it had also been able to reduce the price of the more technologically advanced 3GS handset.
The move is the most recent in a string of price cuts by telephone network providers which have resulted in a slow but sure savings on the cost of purchasing and operating an iPhone, with the ultimate benefit to consumers being a more affordable iPhone.
Tesco is currently offering an 8GB 3G iPhone from the low price of £100. The 16GB model 3GS handset, which is far speedier and includes longer lasting battery life, will cost £200, with the deluxe 32GB 3GS model retailing for £275. Anyone wishing to take advantage of these great deals will need to sign a 12-month contract, with monthly fees being around £35.
This fee includes unlimited data, texts and Wi-Fi, in addition to 750 minutes worth of voice calls every month. Those who are willing to front up with £45 a month on a 24 contract can obtain a 16GB 3GS handset without any purchase price.
